From Ordinary Girl
to Street-Level Hero
Ability Change
Dawn's first transformation is when she receives the Dove superpowers as Don dies. These superpowers of quick thinking, agility, super-sensing, and hyper-perception are present at all times, but become exaggerated during a crisis. Already a calm, level-headed young woman, Dawn becomes the perfect "cool head" in a chaotic situation, quietly assertive, getting bystanders to safety and then incapacitating her enemies so that the police can easily arrest and deal with them. As Dove, she leaves the justice system to do its best work--she seems to view her superheroic actions as supplementary.

Costume ChangeWhen Dawn transforms into Dove, her attire changes, too. Dove's costume, seen at left, seems designed to cover and protect her body during fights, yet it is also light enough not to interfere with her movements. Though it is tight-fitting, as most female superhero costumes are, it doesn't overly emphasize her physique (nor does it even reveal cleavage or much skin at all). In this way, it perfectly suits modest, pragmatic Dawn Granger's normal choice of dress, as well as demonstrating to the audience that a superheroine does not have to be nearly naked to be attractive or effective. |
Situation and Mindset Change
Before becoming Dove for the first time, Dawn seems content to pursue a college degree, help out her parents, and take a normal job after graduation. Once she becomes Dove, however, she begins to see that she has a much greater purpose, gifted to her by the voices who bestowed the Dove powers upon her. These powers are best used to help others at a moment's notice; her own goals become secondary, and she begins to live her life more to serve the public at large.
